Coaching with a Different Hat?!

This morning I had a Coaching session with a client that had nothing to with reps/sets/nutrition or Exercise for that matter, but it had everything to do with Health?!!

I've been told from my lovely lady that I need to take off my "How to solve problems" hat more often, which is friggin hard I can assure you!!
For the simple reason, I have trained myself to look at situations as;
  • What's the Issue/problem?
  • How can we/I fix it in the best positive manner without carrying any bullshit!?
I don't go into Why is this a problem, I just accept this is what has been presented like it or not and how do we create an outcome we/I like?!

Well today (back to original story) , a client and I sat down and he talked about "problems" he was experiencing and said,
"I enjoy talking to you because you look at it from so many different angles, that I cannot see"!

You know how I solved his problem as a coach? I
LISTENED I mean I really listened not just prentended to listen, I didn't get into What/Why/How to fix, I just listened......

The end result was, he felt great to get his "stuff" off his chest and it was enough for him to break the cycle of "issues" he perceived he had!


The morale of my ramblings?
My wife to be was right :-)


There is a time and place for everything i.e. to Coach via listening, guiding, telling, showing, kick up the ass and while I've trained myself to be a very good "mature problem solver" (definition of mature = find an outcome that supports everyone and not just the immature ego of thy self!)


I do need to take off my Coaching Hat of How Can we solve this issue more often! Until today, I didn't realize that the skill I trained myself to have What/How had become a double edged sword, meaning while it served me and will continue to serve me EXTREMELY well, it had become too dominate i.e. when ever I heard people telling me their problems, I went straight into Coaching What and How! I didn't know when to turn what/how "on" and "off"!!


I got Coached today :-)

P.S. Having tools in the tool box is great, knowing when to use the right tool at the right time is what's magic!

This lesson reminded me of the book A New Earth by Eckart Tolle. "In the stillness of Presence, you can sense the formless essence in yourself and in the other as one. Knowing the oneness of yourself and the other is true love, true care, true compassion."

PAY the Price....


In order to get what you want you have to be prepared to "pay the price"!

Most people associate "paying the price" with money and you are mostly right in thinking this way! However, this is just the 'starting point' in "paying the price"!!

Handing over hard earned cash to drop a dress size or increase muscle mass in 4-6wks is the EASIEST part but people make it the hardest!!

Reality of dropping a clothes size in 4wks at EHP:
  • Train 2x of Metabolic Strength
  • Train 2x per week of Metabolic Circuits
  • Eat Compliant 90% of the time (maybe less depending where you start with your actual nutrition)
  • Prepared to adopt New Habits and "let go" of old habits
  • Have a Postive Attitude (this is more important then people think)
  • Repeat the above 90% of the time in 4wks....
Let's break it down some more so you get to see the "details" of 90% Compliant in performance!
  • 4 Training sessions x 4wks = 16sessions
  • 6 Feeding Opportunities per day x 7days = 42meals per week,
    38 of them compliant to how we eat at EHP.
  • Adopting these habits above = Compliancy
  • If you get stuck in your own "stuff" the ability to approach it with a Postive Problem Solving Attitude, is a KEY element that people don't talk about!!
Do you see how "paying the price" is more then just handing over your hard earned cash, it's actually the last thing to really think about not the first!!!

Got 10mins to be "Wishy Washy"?


I wanted to share with you today a few things. Yesterday I took 10mins from a 75min coaching call with Stuart Tomc who is Nordic Naturals Educator!

The information he presented in this interview was MIND BLOWING, it's not very often I get "blown away" from people who teach health.

Stuart Tomc is one of those people who has "connected the dots" in health and looks far bigger then JUST Omega 3/fish oil or "his way" and this is what "blows my mind"..... (often guru's tell you their way from a egocentric point of view or it's with a agenda of some kind that is about them!!)

Stuart see's the bigger picture of TOTALITY and I have believed totality forever, it's actually part of our Maori culture here in NZ so this is where my "belief" of totality/holistic thinking comes from!!

Our conversation touched on History, Science, Research, Quantum Physics, Culture, Functional Medicine, Chemistry, Nutrition - (currently & in the past), belief systems plus much more.... was and is still a "goose bump" experience!

In this 10min clip Stuart talks about where he starts with Omega 3 regardless if you are a expert or a novice!

P.S. There are a lot of awesome people out their teaching health and fitness, however there are only a couple in my mind that can connect the dots on so many different levels other then just sets, reps, nutrition, quantum physics, science, the 'no mind', mature ego, life plus much more and LIVING IT!!

Sure it maybe a bit "wishy washy" for you this whole holisty/totality thing and that's ok, when you are ready to see a totality or holistic view, I or someone else will help you "see it"!!

How to Increase Your Childs I.Q!!

The message rings out all over town on the TV, billboards, flyers and the radio, ‘back to school.’ It heralds the end of summer and the need to get our kids’ brains back into gear after the holidays.

As bags are packed, uniforms pressed, books collected and lunches made, how can we further support the learning process for our kids throughout the long school year?

Look No further then "turbo-boosting brain food’" is in order!

Essential fatty acids or EFA’s are the best way to "turbo boost" your child’s brain!!

EFA’s are amongst the most crucial nutrients for children, as most are deficient. EFA’s are considered ‘essential fats’ because they are required for good health but cannot be produced by our bodies.
